New for 2016: The Drum Den’s Latin Percussion Ensemble

Curious about Afro-Cuban beats? Love Latin percussion? Expand your musical horizons by learning congasbongosclaveguiro and more. Make music with an engaging, interactive group of fellow percussion enthusiasts. Each week you will learn together, building both individual skills and a musical community. Dive into the roots of Cuban music, including son, bolero, rumba, comparsa and more. This fun and interactive class will culminate in an ensemble performance and a chance to show off your new chops!

Our veteran instructor Matt Teitelman, who recorded percussion for Kanye West’s platinum-selling, GRAMMY-nominated album Yeezus, is a long-time student, teacher, and performer of Afro-Cuban percussion and Latin beats.  He has studied with the best teachers in the industry, from New York City to Havana, Cuba, and regularly performs congas, bongos, and Latin percussion with the Spanish guitar group, The Herreras.

This ensemble is for students with a wide assortment of musical goals and aspirations, from the novice to the experienced percussionist, from the curious to the aficionado. This will be an intimate class with interactive instruction; limited space is available, and registration is first-come first-served.

Classes will meet Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 for eight sessions beginning on January 26th and wrapping up March 15th. The final class will be followed by a recital on Sunday March 20th, 2016. Tuition is $400 per student and referral discounts are available. Get a friend to join you and save! Sign up now before the class is filled!
